Protect your TerraScale account with two-factor authentication and other security settings.
Navigate to Settings > Security from the sidebar to manage your account security.
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring a verification code in addition to your password.
- Protects against password theft
- Prevents unauthorized access even if credentials leak
- Required for some compliance standards
- Best practice for production accounts
Use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password:
- Navigate to Settings > Security
- Click “Add Method”
- Select “Authenticator App”
- Open your authenticator app
- Tap the ”+” or “Add” button
- Scan the QR code displayed
- The app will show a 6-digit code
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Click “Verify”
- Your authenticator is now active
Supported Apps:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- 1Password
- Any TOTP-compatible app
Receive verification codes via email:
- Navigate to Settings > Security
- Click “Add Method”
- Select “Email”
- Click “Send Code”
- Check your email for the 6-digit code
- Enter the code
- Click “Verify”
Email 2FA sends a code to your registered email address each time you log in.
The Security page shows all your 2FA methods:
| Column | Description |
|---|
| Method | Type (Authenticator or Email) |
| Name | Identifier (e.g., app name) |
| Added | Date enrolled |
| Last Used | Most recent verification |
To remove a 2FA method:
- Find the method in the list
- Click the menu icon (three dots)
- Select “Remove”
- Confirm with your password
- Enter a verification code from another method (if you have multiple)
Warning: If you remove your only 2FA method, your account will no longer have two-factor protection.
We recommend having multiple 2FA methods:
Primary: Authenticator
Fast and works offline. Use as your primary method.
Backup: Email
Works if you lose your phone. Add as a backup.
When 2FA is enabled, login requires two steps:
Enter your email and password as usual.
- Open your authenticator app
- Find your TerraScale entry
- Enter the current 6-digit code
- Click “Verify”
Codes refresh every 30 seconds. If the code is about to expire, wait for the next one.
- Click “Send Code” on the verification screen
- Check your email for the code
- Enter the 6-digit code
- Click “Verify”
Email codes expire after 10 minutes.
If you lose access to your authenticator app:
- On the login screen, click “Use different method”
- Select your backup method (e.g., Email)
- Complete verification with the backup method
- Once logged in, remove the old authenticator
- Set up a new authenticator
If you’ve lost access to all 2FA methods:
- Contact support at support@terrascale.io
- Provide account verification (registered email, organization name)
- Support will verify your identity
- 2FA will be temporarily disabled for password reset
This process may take 24-48 hours for security verification.
